2017 Football Information

Dear Parents

The 2017 Grayhawks are starting a new flag program for kids 6 to 9 years old.

The program will have only children from Boonton, Boonton Township and Mountain Lakes. We will play different levels of flag 5on5 or 7on7. It will be held at one of the Towns field each weekend during the normal Football Season.  We will hold some week night practice but will limit it to a maximum of 2 practices per week.

With the help and guidance of Coach Darrell Fusco and Coach Brian Gallagher we will focus on basis football skills and look to develop future football players. The Flag program is a non-padded program and is non-tackle football.

The start time for this program will be the last week in August. Details will follow once registration is complete.

You can sign your child on the registration field on this website. The fee for this level is 70.00 per child.

We also offer full padded tackle football for grades 3 thru 8. We have had 6 tackle levels in the past but have had only 4 levels for the past few years. The fee for this level is 175.00 per child. Scholarships are available for all levels of play.

3rd grade 8 and 9 year olds play at the Pre-Clinic level. This is an instructional level and at all times during games 2 coaches are on the field helping set the players up. This Level does practice 3 to 4 nights a week starting from Monday August 7th thru October 31st.

4th grade ages 9 and 10 year olds play at the Clinic Level. This is an instructional level and at all times during games 2 coaches are on the field helping set the players up. This Level does practice 3 to 4 nights a week starting from Monday August 7th thru October 31st.

5th grade ages 10 and 11 year olds play at the Super Pee Wee Level. This is an instructional level and at all times during games 1 coach is on the field helping set the players up. This Level does practice 3 to 4 nights a week starting from Monday August 7th thru October 31st.

6th grade ages 11 and 12 year olds play at the Pee-Wee level. This is the first year of full competitive football. No coaches are on the playing field. It is full contact football.

7th grade ages 12 and 13 year olds play at the JV level. This level is competitive and is full contact football.

8th grade ages 13 and 14 year olds play at the varsity level. This is the highest level of competitive football in our youth program. It is a great level for all children who are going to play High School Football.

Each level has age and weight requirements and has options for children who are lighter and also for heavier players. See information on levels of play.

The Grayhawks program had adopted the Heads up Tackle program to minimize player injuries. Information about this program can be found on our website and at USA football. https://usafootball.com/programs/heads-up-football/ . All of the Grayhawks coaches are required to be certified in the Heads up Program in order to coach. Also all upper level tackle games now are required to have a certified trainer to evaluate player injuries and the trainer has the final say on when a player has to be removed from playing due to injury.

We are looking forward to another successful season and hope to see all of the boys and girls participating in our programs.

Please feel free to email any of the board members with any question you may have.
